테니스에서 남녀 성대결에 대한 닉 볼리티에리 인터뷰

성대결을 하면 재밌겠다 싶어 검색을 해 보았는데, 생각보다 차이가 많이 나네요.

현역끼리 붙는 일은 없을 것 같습니다.

Q : 남자대 여자. 세레나와 남자 100위 선수의 경기라면 어디에 돈을 걸 것인지.

A: 이 일이 벌어졌던 4년전 호주에 나는 함께 있었다. 그 독일 남자(Karsten Braasch, 당시 랭킹 203위)는 포인트 중간에 담배를 피우면서, 세레나를 6-1, 비너스를 6-2로 박살냈다.

톱100위 남자는 우선 어떤 여자 선수의 최고의 샷도 받아낼 정도의 움직임을 갖췄다. 두번째로 서브가 아주 차이난다. 남자는 여자의 공격에 대해 어떤 약점도 없다. 신체적으로 너무 큰 차이가 있다.


Men vs. women. Let's say Serena Williams vs. the 100th ranked male. Where would your money go?

I was with them four years ago in Australia when this happened. The German guy, (Karsten Braasch, ranked No. 203) smoked cigarettes between points, beating Serena 6-1 and then Venus 6-2 . . . he chopped them up!

You see the difference between the top 100 men is first of all, their mobility will allow them to run down the best shots of any girl. No. 2 -- the serve will make a bi_g difference. The men will have no weakness in movement or anything obvious for the women to attack.

Now, the one weakness the boys will have is that they may screw around. Physically, there is a major difference.

성대결에 대한 윌리암스의 견해..

근육질의 테니스 스타 세리나 윌리엄스도 전성기 때 남성대회 출전 유혹을 받았다. 그러나 “테니스에서 성대결은 프로복싱 헤비급 챔피언인 레녹스 루이스가 라일라 알리(무함마드 알리의 딸)와 시합하는 것과 같다”며 손을 내저었다.
